Few locations in Phasmophobia are as iconic as 6 Tanglewood Drive. For many ghost hunters, it was the first haunted house they ever investigated, a small suburban home that introduced players to the terrifying world of paranormal investigation. Now, years after the game’s early-access launch, developer Kinetic Games has brought this fan-favorite location back into the spotlight with a major rework that modernizes the map while preserving its classic design!

The new living room

The most noticeable change in the Tanglewood rework is its complete visual overhaul. Every room in the house has been updated with new textures, furniture, and environmental details that bring the location closer to the visual quality of newer maps in the game. While the overall layout remains relatively the same, the house now feels more like a lived-in family home rather than a simple testing map.

Dining Room

Bedrooms have more personal items, living spaces contain clutter and decorations, and lighting helps build a stronger sense of dread. These environmental upgrades serve a major purpose: immersion. By making the house feel authentic and detailed, players are drawn deeper into the investigation. Every creak, shadow, and flicker of light now carries much more weight. I personally love the fact that it feels like a grandma and grandpa’s old family home from the 90s, complete with a bedroom dedicated to visits with a beloved granddaughter, and even a puzzle nook in what was previously the boy’s room. I absolutely love the attention to detail with this rework!

Another highlight of the rework is the addition of new interactable objects for both players and ghosts. The most talked-about addition is found in the basement: a toy train set! This eerie little feature isn’t just decorative, it can be activated using nearby switches and may trigger unsettling effects when ghosts interact with it. Hiding spots have also been rebalanced throughout the house. While closets remain available in several locations, the rework adjusts how players can use them and how safe they are during hunts.

I personally LOVE the train set. Another cool detail is the boxes the train pieces came in are stored throughout the basement.

The rework of 6 Tanglewood Drive proves that even the most familiar places can become terrifying again. By preserving the original layout while adding deeper atmosphere, new interactions, and subtle gameplay changes, Kinetic Games has successfully breathed new life into one of the most beloved maps in Phasmophobia.
