The star ship crewing masterpiece that is Void Crew has only gotten better over its short life on consoles. The development team over at Hutlihut have done an incredible job patching bugs and making sure the game is running as smoothly as possible. But what could possibly be in store for the future? Their media team have been pretty hush hush when it comes to additions in development, but we can at least dream!

The most recent blockbuster addition to the game of course was the new Striker ship. This vessel allowed players to, for the first time, have a series of forward-facing cannons to fight face to face with the Hollow threat. That with the installation of forward facing shields made the ship a force to be reckoned with even against the most overwhelming threats. But now that it’s been out for a while, what else can we look forward to? Nothing is clear yet, but your pals at the Pixel Parlor can at least dream!

Future Void Crew Content Wishlist

More Modules– This one is a no brainer, and honestly the easiest for the development team to pull off. In fact, I had a recent chat with one of the developers on Reddit, and they pretty much confirmed this is the focus for a while. That being said, what kind of modules could improve the gameplay? I’m a bit biased towards the B.R.A.I.N modules since I’m pretty much a solo player.

B.R.A.I.N Payload Launcher– Now I know you can fire the launcher from the helm, but that’s not really where I’m going with this one. As a solo player, I completely disregard the payload launcher as I simply don’t have time to hop out of the helm station during an intense fight to reload the launcher with torpedoes. Every playthrough I usually get rid of it the first chance I get, and replace it with a more solo friendly module. Here’s my solution to that. Since the normal launcher doesn’t require power, for a BRAIN launcher, have it cost 2 power on the grid to make up for the lack of crew to reload it. I feel like this would be an appropriate cost for such a powerful module that can change the course of many battles.

Multi-Jump Escort Ship– I LOVE calling in escort ships, especially when it’s time to fight a system boss. However, there’s a huge downside to them; they are only good for the area you’re in and cannot jump into warp with you. They are reasonably priced at 15 alloys per call in, but here’s what I’m suggesting. We have a new Corvette escort ship that costs 50 alloys to produce, and they can jump with you until they are destroyed in battle. They have weaker shield and hull armor than your ship of course, but you can space walk over to them to repair their hull just as you could your ship. You can only have one at a time so it isn’t game breaking giving you some sense of commanding a small strike force against the dreaded Hollow.

Crossovers– This one may be a little far fetched due to licenses and all that stupid stupid that holds back greatness, but it’s MY wishlist. Imagine how cool it would be to have access to a bite sized Enterprise or Klingon Bird of Prey. Something like that would not only be awesome for the current player base, but could also attract new players interested in a full immersive Star Trek experience. I know I would pay good money to be able to take a Star Fleet ship into combat against the Hollow. Offline Play- Always going to sneak this in until the developers cave. This game is way too good to be destined for a fate shared by other online-only games.

Ship Based Boss Encounters– Those who play Void Crew know exactly what I’m talking about here. The bosses currently in the game are like stars that emulate the hazards of the system you’re in. They are referred to as Matrons, which I’m still not 100% why they’re called that. What I’d like to see added is a boss or two that are battleship sized threats that become this epic ship on ship battle. Think of how cool that would be. The Hollow battleship would be escorted by smaller ships, and if you call in a few escorts, it becomes an epic fleet combat boss fight with the lights of lasers and torpedoes flying all over the screen. That would be truly epic, and honestly not that difficult for the Devs to program.

Emergency Warp Module– Oh, I’ve been in tons of situations where this bad boy would come in handy. We’ve all been there. You spent a little too much time exploring the area you warped into, trying to scavenge that wrecked ship after your mission is complete, then BOOM…in warps the Hollow Reclaimer to smash your hull and ruin your day.  What I’d like to see is a module that’ll instantly throw you into warp without a charge up, but with extreme negative effects. I believe an equivalent exchange would be that you would have randomized system malfunctions and the void tunnel stability is below 50%, threatening the Hollow to pull you out in an ambush. I think that would be fair for an emergency warp jump.

Access to Remnant Ships– METEM forgive me for my blasphemy, but times are tough and we need every ship we can get our hands on. The Remnants are a rebellious faction of progenitors who betrayed their kin when they needed them the most. Since they are a faction of scavenger humans who turn their backs on the light of METEM, I don’t see why we couldn’t retrofit their ships for our cause. Even if it’s just cosmetically alone! The game already has models for Remnant Frigates, so why couldn’t we change the skin on the Frigate to be the Remnant version as like a roleplay kind of thing. Or even better, a new interior all together.
Customizable Interiors For Ships- This one I think is an easy thing to add, especially to the unlockables on the progression tree. I don’t think I should be anything too crazy! Some choice in paint, wall decorations, color of lighting, and maybe a bobble head for the helm would be awesome.

New Corvette Class or Cruiser Class Ship– Oh yeah, you knew this was coming. You can’t have a list like this without the addition of a new ship or two. Aaaaaand I chose two. For those who don’t know, A Corvette is a smaller vessel compared to a Frigate allowing for incredibly fast movement, but at the cost of fire power. The Figate is already pretty fast, but I think an even smaller, faster vessel would be so cool. The Cruiser would be a massive undertaking to program I’m sure. The Destroyer already feels massive in the game, I can’t imagine how big a Cruiser could be! I can see it having two decks allowing multiple stories of gun emplacements on her broadsides, and plenty of area in the aft for power generators and shield generators. Of course manning such a monster would be insane, and I would imagine a full crew of six players would stll have to rely heavily on B.R.A.I.N modules just to survive. Sounds like a fun challenge to me!

And that’s our list of what we’d love to see added to this incredible game. Let us know what you think down in the comments below, and as always, keep it right here with your pals at The Pixel Parlor!
