If your ideal Friday night involves dragging three of your most expendable friends into a dripping, cursed jungle to get hunted by geometry-defying cosmic horrors, boy do we have some great news for you.
Say hello to The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, an upcoming co-op horror adventure that promises to test both your teamwork and your psychological structural integrity.
Indiana Jones meets H.P. Lovecraft
The premise is beautifully simple, yet terribly hazardous: You and up to three other brave (or deeply indebted) explorers are heading deep into an ancient, cursed jungle. Your goal? Loot treasures, uncover ancient secrets, and try really, really hard not to become an appetizer for Shoggoth.

Before you plunge into the emerald hellscape, you’ll need to…
Prep the Expedition: Choose your gear wisely. Flashlights? Essential. Machetes? Helpful. A backup brain for when yours melts from existential dread? Sadly not on the equipment list.
Survive the Synergy: Teamwork isn’t just a buzzword here, it’s your life support. You’ll need to watch each other’s backs while juggling survival mechanics and the looming threat of the local fauna (and flora, and extra-dimensional entities).
Losing Your Marbles (Literally)
While we love a good jungle trek, The Mound isn’t just about avoiding jaguar attacks. It’s heavily inspired by Lovecraftian horror, which means Madness is a core gameplay mechanic.

Stare too long into the abyss, and the abyss starts messing with your UI. Managing your team’s psychological decline is just as important as managing your ammo. Once the madness sets in, you might start seeing things that aren’t there, or worse, not seeing things that definitely are.
What It Is (and What It Definitely Isn’t)
With the gaming industry currently obsessed with throwing everyone into a meat grinder for loot, you might be asking: “Is this just another extraction shooter?”
We reached out to the devs, and they shut that down faster than an Elder God waking from a nap:

“While the game does feature cooperative gameplay and risk-versus-reward elements during expeditions, we would not officially describe it as an ‘endless extraction shooter.’ It is better described as a mission-based co-op horror adventure with exploration, survival, and psychological horror mechanics.”

Translation? Leave your sweat lord, PvP, slide canceling garbage at the door. This is a atmospheric, mission based descent into psychological dread. It’s about the journey into the dark, the desperate grab for ancient artifacts, and the agonizing struggle to get back out with your mind intact.

If you’ve been looking for a game that combines high-stakes exploration with the distinct flavor of cosmic doom, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu needs to be on your radar.
Just remember: sharing is caring, hoarding all the treasure makes you prime monster bait, and if your teammate starts speaking in ancient Sumerian… run.
